When it comes to successful architectural design, functionality, technology and architecture form a complete whole. Well-implemented architectural design makes working and living environments both pleasant and safe. At its best, architectural design can also have a positive impact on shaping the company’s image.
Architectural design for new construction and rebuilding sites
Here at the RE Group, we design complex new construction and
rebuilding projects for both private companies and public administration
bodies. At each site we also typically monitor the project as lead designer.
Our strong portfolio of working environments is a great resource when planning
different business premises.
Our architectural designers have experience of a wide variety of
production processes, condition requirements and logistics arrangements,
amongst other factors. Our experience when it comes to buildings of historical
value brings versatility to our expertise. Our specialist areas are hygiene and
logistics expertise, even in demanding conditions, such as facilities for the
food industry and shops, as well as in healthcare, industrial, storage and
public buildings.
The RE Group’s multidisciplinary expertise, both within and
outside of architectural design, are always available to our customers, and our
planners work in constant collaboration with other staff members from different
design sectors who are based in the same building. Understanding of technical
requirements ensures a well-functioning end result. We remain by our customers’
side throughout the entirety of the project.
The RE Group helps customers save on resources
Here at the RE Group, we believe it is important that we can guarantee to our customers that their projects will proceed smoothly, without compromising on the schedule or end result. This helps our customers save resources for their own core operations. The RE Group’s architectural design experts work under the same roof as other designers throughout the project, meaning that our customers benefit from our specialist expertise in all areas of design, as well as in project management. We can react quickly and comprehensively to any problems that might occur during the course of the project. As a customer of the RE Group, you reap can all the benefits of our long experience and expertise.
Architectural design with experience
The RE Group’s architectural experience helps us make sure all
key elements, such as technical and operational requirements, are taken care of
early on in the project. This also provides us with a solid foundation for the
completion of the entire project. We trust in the professional skill of our architects
and ensure that their expertise is constantly being developed. This gives them
a range of means at their disposal to manage the needs of all kinds of
different sites, as well as ensuring that they are familiar with the latest
design tools.
When it comes to architectural design, being able to see the
bigger picture and combine specialist expertise are key skills. Proof of this
is the RE Group’s many long-standing customer relationships. Our architects
have become accustomed to resolving all manner of problems, including those at
the most challenging of sites. We’ve often said that we design specialist
buildings, so we can offer functional solutions for even the most challenging
needs our customers present.
Successful architectural design project – HUSLAB
The HUSLAB building is located at a key point in the urban
landscape: on the same plot as the protected Haartman Institute and at the
intersection of some of Helsinki’s main roads. The building spans
24,000 gross square metres, but due to the small size of the
plot, the location is challenging both from a transportation perspective and in
terms of its technical implementation. Around 25,000 samples arrive at the
building each day, and although a large proportion of them come from Meilahti
Hospital, the transportation routes for the other samples are also important.
Internal sample logistics challenges were resolved using an automated conveyor
system.
The building is home to an automated analyser line, which forms
part of HUS’s laboratory operations, as well as a number of specialist
laboratories. The building features specialist facilities, such as clean rooms
and BSL3-level laboratory spaces, which have demanding requirements in terms of
conditions permitted, but even the basic laboratories must be flexible enough
to adapt to rapidly changing requirements.
The RE Group was responsible for the architectural design of
this site, with its challenges in terms of urban landscape and functionality.
At its completion, the project also took on an important societal role as part
of future healthcare arrangements.
